Coisir Lunnainn had an excellent result at the Mod in Oban this year, coming third in the Lovat & Tullibardine, the premier choral competition at the Mod.
Individual members also performed well: choir president Angus Nicol won the Bàrdachd competition with three poems of his own composition and deputy conductor Sandy Jones took first Prize for composing a new song (Oran Ùr), and second prize in the poetry-writing competition, also placing 4th in singing Puirt-a-beul and 6th in the Gold Medal.
Sandy also took five first prizes at Provincial Mods in 2009: in Inverness, she won the Oran Mòr and Puirt-a-Beul; and in Oban, she won the Oran Mòr, Own Choice and ‘Argyll Bard’ competitions. Sandy also received the award for ‘Best Recording’ on completing her HNC Music Performance course in Benbecula in June 2009. Meal do naidheachd gu dearbh, a Shandaidh!
