Coisir Lunnainn is the oldest Scottish Gaelic choir, founded in 1891. We meet on Tuesday nights from 7 pm at the Crown Court Church of Scotland hall in Covent Garden. New choristers and visitors are always welcome. Knowledge of Gaelic isn’t necessary – instruction in Gaelic and music is given at choir.

The Website’s history section notes that:
“In 1921 the Choir was reborn. The celebrated Gold Medallist, Miss Margrat Duncan, who was residing in London, was asked to accept the conductorship but due to business reasons was unable to accept. She did however serve on the music committee and sang with the Choir for several years.”

Margrat was my great aunt, and I’m currently struggling to compile information about her life and career, as there’s no one left alive in my family that knew her (she died in 1948 in Twickenham).
If you are able to supply me with any information relating to Margrat (programmes, press reviews, etc) that you may have, I’d be extremely grateful. If you know of any recordings of her singing with the choir, I’d also be very interested indeed. I have some recordings of her singing solo with piano and with intrumental accompaniment.

    Kind regards,

  2. Dear Coisir Lunnainn

We would like to tell you about a very special and unique premier dance and music performance at the London Coliseum from 5th – 10th April.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce New York based Shen Yun Performing Arts, a world class performance, reviving 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture in a colourful gala of classical dance and music. Classical Chinese dance is one of the most expressive and demanding dance styles, and the origin of ballet and acrobatics.

You can see video previews of the show here:

Below is the link to our online newsletter, now with an offer of a free programme booklet when you quote “divine show” on our hotline, as well as a special group rate.

I also attach a link to our 2011 e-brochure for you to browse through. Please select “Book” on the left bottom of the screen and turn the page as if it is a booklet:

Alternatively, you may wish to take advantage of special hospitality packages by calling the Coliseum directly on 0871 911 0200 or online at

We hope you are inspired to pass on the beauty of Shen Yun to colleagues, clients, friends and family.

Finally, we are more than happy to send through some of our exquisite Shen Yun leaflets.

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to come back to me. Hope to welcome you at the theatre!

    Yours sincerely,

    James Poulter
